The 4th of July

I am excited about this upcoming 4th for a number of reasons and none that have to do with fireworks (or at least I hope there will be no fireworks). This country is reaching a critical mass with our disappointment of our elected officials from both sides of the aisle. With each passing week the Congress steals our freedoms and abuses the public trust. I was truly saddened to see the global warming contingent win in the House, this is incredible considering that they had to switch to climate change because global warming held no water. So, we will probably end up with Cap and Trade, which will raise the prices on everything we need to live. If that wasn't enough amnesty keeps chugging right along and once again we will reward the criminals for their hard work of breaking this country's laws. This is the sad state of affairs of this country.

With that said, I do see a light on the horizon and that enough average taxpayers are getting sick and tired of having their hard earned dollars flushed down the federal spending toilet and rewarding those that don't with the same as those who do. America was not built on level outcomes, it was built on a level starting point. We used to be the land of opportunity where hard work and brains could propel you to a better life. That dream has been sold down the river by the progressives in Washington, so much so that now if you do succeed you are a criminal and need to be taxed unfairly for that success. This isn't right and leads to a society that does not aspire to greatness, but does the absolute minimum. I have seen this mentality before on certain ships that I served on, you can always beat people into an average. But true success came from the ability to inspire greatness. Those boats that had great leadership went above and beyond what was required with outstanding results. This country used to strive for greatness, but now we are being beaten to average.

I say enough and there are many that agree with me, finally. The American dream has been sold to corporate and union interests for far too long, so now is the time We the People need to stand up and say enough. This 4th of July I will be in Washington with my wife supporting the March for Liberty, to put an end to the craziness that is going on in Washington. Are you happy that the American dream? Is doing just enough to keep the government off your back or worse receive a government handout what you grow up striving for? That was not the way I was raised or the way I raised my children, I still believe in hard work, honest day's work for an honest day's pay, and that you can achieve just about anything you can dream, because this is America. This is what I want to pass on to my children and grand children, so I am not going to sit back and let the American dream die at the hands of a socialist elitist that think they know what is best for the rest of us. I say put an end to the progressive era in Washington and restore our Constitutional roots. I will decided what is best for me and my family and you should do the same.

God Bless America and long live the American Dream.

Amnesty, What A Hugely Bad Idea!

One has to wonder what the heck Washington is thinking when they even mention the idea of granting complete amesty to all illegals. This is such a bad idea on so many levels it is hard to know where to begin.

Why are we rewarding lawbreakers with the greatest prize in the world? American citizenship used to be the greatest prize in the world and people were willing to do just about anything to achieve it, that includes rowing 90 miles in a VW bug. So, instead of rewarding those that come in the front door as law abiding immigrants, we are going to reward those that have stolen or forged documents, violated numerous laws and in some cases committed other crimes in support of their illegal pursuits.

How can we grant amnesty with our borders still wide open? This makes zero sense and is basically an open invitation to anyone in the world that wants to be an American citizen. So, why even bother having immigration enforcement because they aren't really accomplishing anything if we grant everyone citizenship just for showing up.

If they do this, what is the cost to the system? We suddenly dump millions onto the rolls of Social Security, Medicaid, and every other social service you can think of, what is going to happen? California has done this already and they are bankrupt and now we want to do this to every other state and the federal government, does anyone else see why this is such a bad idea when we are already headed to a melt down on all these programs. We can not raise taxes enough to cover what we already owe, so there is absolutely no way we can cover 12 million more handouts.

I want to hear what you think, but more importantly let your representatives hear it. Call, email, write, or stand on their desks and say no way to Amnesty.

Exciting Stuff

I was really beginning to wonder about this country and what it was going to take to get this country to pull its collective heads out of its collective anal cavities. I think a letter read on Glenn Beck's Show from a nice lady that used to be a Democrat pretty much says it all and might just be the catalyst to turn this country around. You will have to wait to read it as the site was so swamped it had to shut down. The other item I am getting excited about is that Operation Swing Vote or ReDeclare Your Independence is going to culminate on July 4th with a March for Liberty in DC. I am a little unhappy that some other site took mine, Barbarian and FreeFlight's idea and repackaged it, but if it gets more people to sign up as Independents or unaffiliated or undeclared (state dependent) then all the better. I am twisting the wife's arm and we are headed to DC for the 4th of July and the rally there. She made me promise that I wouldn't get her arrested and I kindly reassured her that we are about peaceful law abiding protest.

With all this stuff coming to a head pretty rapidly, we must get ready for the inevitable what's next from a whole bunch of invigorated (PO'd) Americans. As you know I have already posted a pretty good plan on cornering you local representative either one on one or in a pack to chew their ears off about taking our message to the Statehouses. We need to get some serious noise going about a Constitutional Convention and quick because the Democrats in Congress are full steam ahead on putting this country in so much debt that our great grand kids could never pay off the interest never mind the principle. We must act know to bring Washington to heel and the only true way to make that happen is to get the States to assert their rights and put Washington back into its Constitutional box.

I am finally encouraged that America is waking up and will soon put a stop to the madness in Washington. If you get a chance come to DC, but if you can't then find a rally near you and Celebrate your Independence from the tyranny of Washington politics. Let's hear what you have going or what you will be up to on the 4th.

The Next Step

Now that Operation Swing Vote is heading into the home stretch, we need to plan the next move. I am thinking that we need to start chatting up our local representatives, so they can take a message for us to the statehouses that we are PO'd and something needs to be done about Washington. This is something that the states are the only ones that can really do something about by applying pressure to put Washington back in its Constitutional box. If a local rep hears it enough times from enough people in his district then they might get the picture. If they are unwilling to help then they can be replaced with someone who is. Trying to get the criminals to police themselves is never going to work. Plus, we can't sit around until 2010 because there will be nothing left of this country by then.

Here are some key things to say to your local rep while you have his ear:

1. What are you doing to ensure our state's Constitutional rights are being respected? If your state has a bill asserting those rights then ask about their position on that bill. If they are not supporting it, let them have it. Some states have already introduced legislation to say enough is enough on 2nd Amendment issues, but this needs to go further and more states need to stand up to Washington. The states are in the right on this and have all the power, if they will only exercise it.

2. Ask them if the support a Constitutional Convention to amend the Constitution to: repeal the 16th and 17th amendments, to introduce a balanced budget amendment and force Congress to abide by the laws of the land. If they don't then let them get another earful. A Convention is the only way to bring Washington to heel as they know that there are a lot of conservative states that get the same single vote as the few big progressives states like NY and CA. A Convention would not go well for the big government nanny state supporters because for NY and CA, we have ID, MT, and TX. Just the mere mention of this will cause the walls of Washington to shake.

3. Ask them how much your state takes in federal money and why are they allowing themselves to be bought off? There are very strict guidelines in the Constitution about taxation and money that the states are allowed to receive from the federal government. This is a game the states play with the feds. The fed over taxes us and then uses the extra to bribe the states to do what they want them too. They are using our own tax dollars to put us into bondage to the federal government. This has to stop. This will be a sore spot with your representative because if they are worth their salt they will immediately push back about all the good those federal dollars have done in your district. This is insane because if the feds hadn't over collected taxes to begin with then the locals could have been able to put those projects to a vote and raised the money, but instead we are over taxed the fed takes a huge cut and then buys votes with the remainder of the money. We must make this end and keep the money closer to home. We don't need to be double and triple taxed for things that should be local issues like schools and roads.

4. You can also let them get and earful about national socialized medicine as well. This isn't a strong suit for me, but I know one thing and that anything the federal government touches turns to crap and you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that this won't turn out well.

5. Tell them to say no to the feds on bailout money and stimulus money. This is money that this country doesn't have and at this rate never will even it they tax us 100%. We must stop spending what we don't have and that includes at the state level as well. If you live in CA, you know that you are next on the list for bailouts, so don't let them get away with it.

6. I would tell them to enforce the laws on the books and especially the immigration laws. I don't hate any people group and I am not advocating violence, but we have laws and they should be enforced. This would reduce the number of violators and restore the legal borders of this country. We can not allow the politicians the opportunity to buy votes with our safety and security.

7. You can general tell them how you feel and that if they are doing something good let them hear it as well. This person is your ticket to changing the future. If you don't know who it is then shame on you because you can't complain about Washington if you don't even know the people that represent you in your district.

I want to hear what you think or if I missed anything. So sound off!

What in the world?

I am sitting here wondering what in the world is the President thinking when he has truly failed to acknowledge the sacrifice of a soldier's life just for wearing the uniform of his country or the fact that sacrifice came on American soil. The sad part is that the US AG is all over the abortion doctor's death and rooting around for some big conspiracy, when the killer of an American soldier on US soil by someone with definite terrorist ties is ignored. If this all doesn't get you hopping mad, I don't know what possibly could. The fact that the current government pretty much sees all conservatives as terrorist is bad enough, but to ignore the death of one of our young men at the hands of an actual terrorist is a complete outrage.

I don't know what it is going to take to make this country realize that we have to stop the madness that is Obama's Washington before this whole country and over 200 years of freedom and liberty are flushed down the toilet of progressivism. I personally don't want a federal handout and I am tired of all those who do. Since when did it become a crime to fail? If you try and you don't succeed you learn and try again, but now with the help of Washington you try, fail and receive lots of hard earn tax dollars for failing. So, what is the incentive to succeed?

I feel like a I am in a row boat on the ocean shouting at the top of my lungs in a hurricane, it doesn't do any good but at least I am doing something. I would like to hear what you have to say on the matter, so chime in.

Operation Swing Vote Update

I know that I have been supporting doing just about anything to change the course this country is on and I think I might have found it finally. The Sea to Shining Sea movement has morphed into Operation Swing Vote and how crazy is it that just last night I was polled by Gallup. I was able to voice my opinion (limited by the questions) about how I felt about this country's direction and the bozo's leading the way. I was also able to let them know that I was a conservative Independent, which doesn't sound like much, but will push the Independent numbers ever higher. If we can just get them north of 50% then we have the two parties by the proverbial short hairs and they might actually start listening to We the People again instead of special interests. If they don't start listening they are on the fast track for a ticket out of Washington and we all know that is what every politician fears the most.

So, if you get the chance to express your opinion in any shape, way or form, please join me in sending a loud and clear message to Washington that we are fed up and aren't going to take it anymore. Washington, you have been put on notice for termination, either shape up or be prepared to ship out.

This is what's wrong with the election process!

Sen. Arlen Specter said Sunday he did not attempt to clear the field in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary after his potential opponent claimed members of the state's political establishment tried to lure him out of the race.
"I'm ready to take on all comers," Specter, who switched his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat in April, told "FOX News Sunday."
He responded after Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., who is expected to mount a primary challenge against Specter, told FOX News that people in the Pennsylvania "establishment" contacted him and asked him not to run against Specter. He said he's disappointed that party leaders are trying to "anoint" the senator, calling Specter "self-serving" and "more concerned about his job" than his state.
Specter rejected that suggestion Sunday.
"It's a free society. I didn't ask that the field be cleared," Specter said. "There was no discussion of that. Everybody ought to run if he or she wants to run."
Asked if he's certain he can beat Sestak, Specter said, "there's no such thing as certainty" in a political campaign.
A recent poll, though, showed Sestak trailing Specter by nearly 30 points in a Democratic primary match-up. FOX News

If you think you actually get a choice who to vote for think again. I am no fan of Sestak, but the fact that party switcher Specter expects the an easy go of it pisses me off. Why would the party even need to approach Sestak if Specter is such a wonderful choice. I say this has to be one of the key targets of Operation Swing Vote, we need to swing hard against Specter to the point that he polls in the 20's. The party might rethink its position then. Of course we can do nothing if we don't first get organized and get the voters of PA to realize that a vote for Specter is a vote for Washington corruption and self-serving politicians. If you know someone in PA talk their ears off about this and get them to realize that Specter is a symbol of the absolute crap that is Washington these days.
