My Vote

Here I sit with my ballot in one hand and my trusty pen in the other. My choice is clear and I make it without fear. I know that I am doing the right thing, but I still can't help thinking that it won't really make much of a difference. It is sad that after two years of speeches and money raising that the sad truth is that this election will not bring about the needed fundamental change that is needed in Washington.

We can choose a career politicians from either party and the associated cronies to send back to Washington, but what does this get us? I say it gets us more of the same poor service that we have had for decades. We the people have been duped into believing that the two party system works for us and that our government is the best, but that just isn't true. What is true is that we have the best government that money can buy, but not the best government. We have people that are solely looking out for themselves and their buddies. They don't care about the people they represent because to them we are the unwashed masses of stupid voters.

I think if we have a third party to prevent the career politicians from running amok with our tax dollars things would be very different. This third party would be a party of the people with their best interests in mind. This party would be a true fiscal conservative party, a party of small limited government, a party for strong defense, a party of term limits, and an anti-lobbyists party. They would sign a contract that would hold them to a term limit, no earmarks, no lobbyists money, and minimizing the federal government.

You say that the Republican Party is that party, but I say no. They lost those ideals a long time ago as seen by the corruption charges leveled against many of them and the fact that they to spend their lives living in the swamp. If America wants to turn back the clock on corruption and greed, we need to force the career politicians and the influence peddlers out of Washington.

So here I sit with pen in one hand and my ballot in the other, sigh...

Financial Meltdown

The funny thing with all this Financial Crisis is that it was 100% preventable much like the Oil Crisis. We as consumers controlled the market and created this monster with our irresponsibility. Do you really think that the housing market would have gone so haywire if people had purchased homes that they could afford with mortgages that they knew they could pay back based on the money they were earning at the time? We can whine all we want that the government didn't do enough or did too much because they are our elected representatives and should have been looking out for us. You can blame the Wizards of Wall Street for making you those sweetheart of a deal.

I have purchased my homes via Navy Federal and they made me prove that I could afford to pay for the house I was buying each and everytime. They would not let me buy more than they thought I could afford and there was no thought give to future markets or incomes. I worked with a mortgage agent that does not sell its mortgages, so if they make a bad loan they live with the consequences unlike the fly by night mortgage wheel and dealers. If a bank won't give you money for a house you can't afford then maybe you shouldn't be buying that house. If you think that some how a magic fairy is going to come along and sprinkle mortgage payments into your account, guess again.

That isn't to say that there isn't blame to go around, but first we must admit that we have a problem then we can work to solve the larger problem. I say treat the Wizards like drug dealers and seize all their collective assets and use them to fund the bailout. There are millions in bonuses and salaries for these criminals that could go a long way in shoring up the markets. I also say that Navy Federal should take over Fanny and Freddy. The should force them to do what is right and save the taxpayer a bundle of bailout money. All failing loans should have to be reviewed and refinanced under the new rules. If you can't afford the house then it will be sold in a depressed market to someone that can afford it. Of course this will hurt the ones at the very bottom, which is a shame but that is America. You can better your lot at any time by working hard and getting an education. I know that there are lot of people out there that won't agree, but to be honest "the poor will be with us always" (Jesus).

As for our wonderful pocket lining Congress, I have always said throw them out and start over with no lobbyist and see if things don't get better. I am really thinking that for 2012, we need a new reformer party headed by VP Palin. She would have the executive experience without too much Washington stink on her. We need candidates that will run on term limits, elimination of lobbyists, and accountability particularly in government spending and employment. This would be a hard fought battle with the established parties that would have to grow out of the grassroots. We would be up against huge corporations and political machines just to get the candidates on the ballots, but with the Internet it is now possible to make this a reality. It has always been said that a third party candidate would never be able to get anything done, but with a third party Congress to back them great things could be accomplished.

Let me know what you think.

The Whole Pig

I think that is funny that Obama referenced a pig and lipstick to talk about his opponents, but I would think that McCain/Palin would have thicker skin than be offended. I would think they would pass it off to Obama being desperate to score a hit with the liberals he is pandering to, but by insisting on an apology they appear weak and worried about what Obama has to say. They should make fun of Obama's lame attempt at humor and pity him. They should not give him any more reason to think that it bothers them even a little bit. Sure people are going to be offended by his comments, but let that turn against him on its own. Palin is far from being a pig and does not need to defend herself from this baseless attack. You know that best way to keep guys on the sub from giving you crap is to laugh off the attack or show zero reaction and that is good advice in this case for McCain and Palin.

The fact that Palin has refused to bow down to the press is making them crazy. I think it is wonderful that she hasn't pandered to them to get their approval and she should keep it up. If they want to talk with her, then they need to retract all the lies they spewed about her and her family. Poor journalism is no excuse for what the MSM did to her. They should have spent a little time getting their facts straight before flooding the airwaves with BS. I don't really give a crap if she ever talks to any of them. She is out on the campaign trail talking to the people that are going to elect her and that is what is truly important. The average republican voter knows that the MSM has nothing good to say about their candidates, so it really isn't hurting McCain/Palin not to pander to the MSM.

If you think that I am off base let me hear it.

The "Gay Marriage" Thing

Here is the deal about this one. I feel that the religious types are getting this all wrong because they think the government should be in charge of who should and should not be married and claim the bible as their reference. I totally agree that the bible clearly states that marriage is between one man and one woman for the purposes of procreation. I know that the religious types are now applauding, but wait one minute. Since when does the government have the right to regulate this issue based on the bible and not the rule of law?

It was all fine and dandy when the government was doing the bidding of the religious ones, but the reality is that the government should never have been in the marriage business to begin with since it had no legal basis to do so. The government should never have been allowed to issue marriage licenses to anyone. The state should have recognized the joining of two people with a legal document of domestic partnership (currently incorrectly named marriage license). The church should marry people any way that they see fit and recognition by the state would be via a legal document that has nothing to do with "marriage". You want to hold the line on who can be married, then as a church you decide whom can be married and the hoops that they will have to jump through. The state should not legally recognize that ceremony and should only recognize the domestic partnership.

If you want to define marriage, have at it, you can do it in your church or your denominational convention, but that remains 100% a church matter. Now, if you want the states to define marriage then you open the door to fun things like Shia Law and state religion. Our Founding Fathers tried to keep the state out of church business and that God gave us things that the government should never be able to take away, but if we allow the government in then all bets are off. You want to solve this "gay marriage" issue, then get the government out of the marriage business.

If you agree or not let me hear it. I am not afraid because this is a country of laws that protect all citizens, but allows me to believe any crazy thing that I like. I and like minded people have the right to practice our religion free from interference of the government, but we can't expect nor would we want the government to enforce our beliefs on the country as a whole. So, I say believe what you want and don't invite the government in where it does not belong. Otherwise you are on a very slippery slope where any religion can claim any crazy idea and force it down your throat (I did say Shia Law, right).

The Election

After watching the McCain speech last night I am okay with him becoming President for the next four years and then turning things over to VP Palin. If you have read any of the stuff that I have been saying about cleaning up Washington then you can see why I am okay with McCain. I would like to believe him that he is going to put Washington on notice, but in my heart I know better. I understand that compromise is part of doing business and would securing our boarders been so bad. I just have a hard time believe that he can pull it off because he has been in Washington too long and has way to many enemies on both sides of the aisle.

I am putting my real hope in the Hockey Mom from Alaska. She is an outsider that owns nothing to special interests groups or either parties' elected dinosaurs. Sure, she took federal money to better her community, but she used it on the community and not to get her name put on a building somewhere owned by some lobbyist. Washington has a way of changing people and that is easily seen when you look how the Republicans acted once they came to power in both chambers. The truth is that if you truly want to reform Washington you have to do some serious hard work and force the career politicians into doing what is right for the country and not for them. We have to let them know that if they don't they are out of there.

The two conventions just showed how influence pedaling corporations just skirted around campaign finance reform. They laid out about $100 million between the two conventions. Tell me that won't buy them good will in the Congress. We have to stand up to this and put an end to it. We need to start closing all the loopholes and enforce the laws to clean up the cesspool that is Washington. I hope McCain appoints a blue ribbon committee headed by VP Palin to investigate and implement this kind of reform. It sure won't make them popular with the elected elite, but it would go a long way with the people. I doubt Sen. McCain reads this blog, but maybe someone will put a bug in his ear or a burr under his saddle to make this happen.

As a founding member of the Sub Guys for Palin, I have updated the website to reflect our position. I also would like to get a grassroots movement to get her to tour as many subs as possible, so talk to everyone you know and get the CO's to invite her on down and then take lots of pictures.

I am amazed at some of the crap that is currently floating around the web and on TV. The Democrats and the MSM are going crazy and attacking Gov. Palin about here son and her pregnant daughter, but they go even further to say that she shouldn't be running for VP because she should be home taking care of her family. This is outrageous and I can't believe that anyone would have the stones to say such a thing. If a Republican said something like that they would be crucified in the press and we would never hear the end of it, but the NYT gets a free pass.

I don't know if I am going to make it to November because this is too crazy for words. I might have to turn off my TV and stop reading the news. This country has an easy choice to make now that all the players are known and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who will be the lesser of two evils. Obama is all show and no go. He makes a lot of empty promises and has nothing to point to to prove that he can deliver. On the other hand, you have McCain, who has made tough choices to get things done and has paid a heavy price for some of them, but has delivered more times than not.

I would like to see real change in Washington, but that isn't going to happen during this election, so I am going with the best available. Maybe the American public will see that electing the same career politicians time and time again isn't going to bring about change. You need to break away from more of the same and hot air. You need to look for people that don't want to make Congress the last job they will ever hold. You need some one that remembers what the federal government was supposed to be for and governs least. A government that isn't constantly finding new ways to spend my money. I government that doesn't constantly waste our time and resources arguing about stuff that it shouldn't be involved in. I say why did they spend months debating CAFE standards when they should have been worry about other more important issues. The car companies will build more fuel efficient cars because that we be the only ones people buy. You don't need the government to waste time and money legislating that.

I hope that this election cycle has shown you that you have to change the way that you think about Washington and it isn't whether Democrats or Republicans win in November because it makes no difference either way. One group will speed the decline faster than the other, but both are about staying in office and wasting our money.

McCain hit a homerun with his choice for VP. I know that she is an outsider and that isn't well known by the country, but that is what makes her even more appealing. I've waited a few days before posting anything on her because I wanted to see what the MSM and the left would come up with and how they handled her nomination.

I am happy to report that they are going nuts and slinging a whole bunch of BS. They are beside themselves trying to discredit her. The truly sick one was about the daughter and the son, but low and behold no traction there because the son is hers and the daughter is pregnant. Oh my, we have a pregnant teenager what are we to do? We could force her to have an abortion or we could love and support her and her child. I opt for number later. The very fact that the left is going nuts reassures me that it was a great choice.

If McCain would have picked anyone else the left would have been smiling thinking that Obama was going to be a shoe in because it could claim four more years with Bush, but now not so much. Gov. Palin changes the whole dynamic of the race and revitalizes the party that most likely would have stayed home and handed the election to Obama. Now, the conservatives can come out in droves and bury Smugsly and Plugsly. The left and MSM have no idea how to stop this and are cutting their own throats by attacking an accomplished articulate woman.

This race is going to be fun to watch and I look forward to 2012 when we could have Palin verses Hillary for the White House. Let me hear what you have to say.
